Mad Scientist™ Back on Track at St. Petersburg
San Antonio, Texas (March 9, 2018) VP Racing Fuels, Inc., today announced that Steve Burns, VP’s Founder and Mad Scientist™, will race in the season opener of the Pirelli World Challenge in Florida this weekend.
Burns, who will be competing in a Ginetta G55 in the GT4 class, an FIA Class featuring Porsche, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Chevrolet, BMW, and Aston Martin, is looking forward to his first race on a temporary street course.
“I will tell you, I’m a bit nervous running a street course for the first time. I’ve always thought racing a street course would be fun, but the closer the reality becomes, the greater realization of the consequences.” Excited about the new season and driving the Ian Lacy Racing prepared Ford V6 from Works Garage, Burns added, “With this series we will race on most of the best road racing tracks in the country. PWC races all across America and goes into Canada. In my life I’ve raced 7 years in AMA Motocross, driven drag cars, flown experimental aircraft and sail planes, boated class4 rivers all over the American West, sailed Olympic Class sail boats at an international level, and won a World Championship in Athens Greece. I raced 2 years Pro Mazda open wheel and competed in the Trans Am series last year. I expect this might become the most exciting experience yet.”

Burns, whose father was a 19-year-old Sergeant on D Day and landed at Utah Beach in Normandy, France, grew up in a US Army community in South Texas. Andrew S.
